Building Digital Communication Capacity Among Sokoto Livestock Farmers
Sokoto, Sokoto State | Four Icons Premium Limited has successfully concluded a four-day training on Digital Communication Tools for Enhanced Livestock Production and Market Access for livestock farmers under the Sokoto State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project.
Held at Karma Guest Inn, Sokoto, the training brought together 100 livestock farmers from across the state in two batches, equipping them with practical digital communication skills to improve livestock production, strengthen customer engagement, and expand market opportunities. Before the commencement of the training, participants underwent a structured accreditation process and completed digital pre-training assessments to establish baseline knowledge and ensure readiness for the practical sessions.
Facilitated by Four Icons Premium Limited, the programme adopted a highly practical approach, with participants using their own smartphones throughout the sessions. They received hands-on training on the use of WhatsApp for business communication, digital marketing, livestock photography and video creation, customer engagement, online safety, cloud-based contact backup, Google Lens, QR codes, and other smartphone tools that support livestock enterprise management.
A distinctive feature of the training was its collaborative English-Hausa facilitation model, which encouraged participants to explain concepts to one another in Hausa, creating an inclusive learning environment that strengthened participation and reinforced understanding. The programme also leveraged WhatsApp before, during, and after the training for participant mobilization, practical assignments, resource sharing, and continued peer learning beyond the classroom.
The training forms part of the Sokoto State L-PRES Project’s commitment to strengthening livestock productivity through innovation, digital inclusion, and capacity building. It also reflects Four Icons Premium Limited’s continued role in designing and delivering practical development communication interventions that empower communities with knowledge and skills for sustainable development.
